Providing harbor seal pups with a floating platform might seem helpful, but when that platform is a slippery surfboard such an experiment might also seem a bit cruel. It reveals that some seals are more adept than others at sliding onto a windsurfing board moored in their habitat, in this case in waters off Puget Sound, Wash.
